About

Ellice Barry was a daughter of William, Lord Barry of the great Cork house of Barry Mor, by Ellen de la Roche - Buttevant and Fermoy in one cradle. She married Thomas, Earl of Desmond, and lived the nightmare of Anglo-Ireland: her husband taken from a parliament he had summoned and beheaded at Drogheda in 1468. Her son James rebuilt the earldom, and this line descends through him.
