About
Fortun Garces the One-Eyed, last Arista King of Pamplona, spent twenty years a hostage at the emir's court in Cordoba before returning to reign - a king who knew his enemies' palace better than his own. Deposed at last by Sancho Garces in 905, he ended his days a monk at Leyre. His daughter Onneca was Queen Toda's mother, so the supplanted dynasty's blood ran on inside the supplanter's.
