About
Henry Hunte was High Sheriff of Essex and the eldest of William Hunte's eleven children. On 2 April 1573, at Gosfield, he married a woman the pedigrees call Jane Vere. That marriage is the hinge on which this family's whole medieval descent turns: everything above her is the nobility of England, and everything below her runs, in time, to Cromwellian settlers in Limerick and farmers in west Cork.
