Research notes

FATHER RE-ALLOCATED Jul 2026: placed under RICHARD the twin (bp. 1763) - PROBABLE, not documented. Evidence: James raised his family on Richard's Kilnameela farm and succeeded as occupier by 1838; first son named Richard; full naming grid coherent (fails at position one under John). John (1760) remains the fallback candidate - Norman's 1994 allocation was his own question-marked guess. Deciders: Bandon estate lease papers; Hartford obituary. [DIRECT ANCESTOR OF THE COMPILER: flag added 24 Jul 2026 by walking the tree from Aynsley, so that this marker is reliable and can be searched.]

Of Kilnameela, Desertserges; m. Elizabeth Gosnell. A farmer in Ireland who emigrated to Connecticut c.1850 (most of the family went; documented via descendant Judy Wight and Rosemary ffolliott register extracts). Father of our James (b.1827, the stay-behind son); documented via the Ballymodan register and Judy Wight research. The single inferential step in the line is identifying that son with the 1858 Drinagh groom (the only possible James-son-of-James).

Death: Died aged 68 (gravestone); Find a Grave memorial 53340077, Granby Cemetery, Section 6 / Lot 32, with wife Elizabeth Gosnell (1794-1887).
