Jane Coningsby, daughter of Sir William Coningsby of Aldenham, Kt.; FIRST wife of George Raleigh of Farnborough/Thornborough.

Research notes

✓ DOCUMENTED as George's 1st wife: 'Jane Da. of Will'm Connysby of Aldenha' Kt. 1 wife.' George married three times (2nd a widow of Fitz Gerrard; 3rd Anne, da. of Erneley). ~ ON BRIDGET'S MATERNITY: the visitation draws Bridget ('Bridget ux. William Kingsmill') on the first wife's side, and chronology fits (Bridget b. c.1530; George's later wives came after), so Jane is the PROBABLE mother - graded ~, not ✓. NB the tree also holds Elizabeth Coningsby (I100327, m. Sir Richard Berkeley) - if both are of the judge Sir Humphrey Coningsby's house, two of our lines took Coningsby wives. Her father left as a documented floor. Source: Visitation of Warwickshire, 'Raleigh' pedigree pp.76-78 (page images supplied by Aynsley 8 Aug 2026). Added 8 Aug 2026. ||CONINGSBY-LOFTUS ECHO (CP CONINGSBY pp.343-44, supplied by Aynsley 8 Aug 2026)|| The later Coningsbys of Hampton Court carried OUR clan's blood the other way: Thomas Coningsby, 1st Earl Coningsby (d.1729), was son of Humphrey Coningsby by LETTICE LOFTUS of the Rathfarnham house - CP (p.343) calls her 'sister to Adam, 1st Viscount Lisburne, da. of Sir Adam Loftus', while Burke's Extinct Peerage (p.131, supplied 8 Aug 2026) says 'dau. of ARTHUR Loftus, Esq., of Rathfarnham'; the two reconcile as daughter of Sir ARTHUR Loftus of Rathfarnham (son of Sir Adam), sister of the 1st Viscount Lisburne - the house of our own Archbishop Adam Loftus (the Prince William MRCA). ||CONINGSBY TEST PART-CLOSED 8 Aug 2026|| Burke's Extinct 'Coningsby' gives the Hampton Court line's wives - Salwey, Highfield, Fitzwilliam, Neville, Loftus - NO Grey and NO Ferrers, so no Elizabeth-de-Clare conduit there. STILL UNTESTED: the ALDENHAM branch's own wives (the judge Sir Humphrey's wife, and Sir William of Aldenham's wife = JANE'S OWN MOTHER, still unnamed). So the Coningsby earls were Loftus-blooded cousins-by-affinity of our Berkeley-Loftus line. Collateral echo, note-only.
