About

Mary White was the eldest daughter of Newport White who built Kilmoylan, and in 1784 she married William Going of Ballyphilip in Tipperary. She is a new daughter of a house this family already descends from, and she is the reason the Goings turn up here at all.

✓ DOCUMENTED (Burke's LGI 'Going of Ballyphilip' p.270, page image read 7 Aug 2026, verbatim: 'WILLIAM GOING, of Ballyphilip, b. 1745; m. 1784, Mary, eldest dau. of Newport White, of KILMOYLAN, co. Limerick, and d. 1844'): MARY WHITE, ELDEST DAU. of NEWPORT WHITE of KILMOYLAN (I81028, b.1728 d.1780 - 'built Kilmoylan') by MARY IEVERS (I81031); m. 1784 William Going of Ballyphilip. ||FAMILY REGISTER PAGE READ 7 Aug 2026 (J. D. White 1887, digital image ulsc:3183-182 - a page of MARRIAGES and DEATHS transcribed from the family's own record)|| THE MARRIAGE IS NOW DATED TO THE DAY: 'William Going, Mary White, 28 May 1784', and her death likewise: 'Mary Going (aunt) died April 18, 1833'. Burke's gave only the year. SISTER of RICHARD WHITE of Kilmoylan (I81027, b.1769), our direct ancestor - the birth window fits an elder sister exactly. NOT in the direct line herself. SIGNIFICANCE: the White of Kilmoylan descent has until now rested on the family chart rather than on print; this is the first PRINTED rung naming Newport White of Kilmoylan and a child of his, so it corroborates the chart independently.
