Addition; primary sources via BHO Inquisitions Post Mortem trail, 25 Jul 2026): MAUD DE ROOS (d. 9 Dec 1388), dau. of William de Ros, 2nd Lord Ros of Helmsley, by Margery de Badlesmere; wife of John, 4th Lord Welles; mother of Anne (our line). *** THIS IS THE FINDING THAT CORRECTS THE OLD 'MOWBRAY MOTHER' ERROR: proven by SEVEN independent evidences - conclusively a 1367 Common Pleas suit naming her 'Maud daughter of William de Roos of Helmsley' (custodian of the Welles heir), her own 1373 seal bearing the ROOS arms (three water-bougets), the Rievaulx cartulary pedigree, the Visitation of the North, the Nunney heraldry (Welles impaling Roos), and the Scrope royal kinship.
