Ralph St Leger of Ulcombe in Kent died about 1518, leaving a son who would rise further than any St Leger before him: Sir Anthony, three times Lord Deputy of Ireland and the manager of the crowning of Henry VIII as King of Ireland. Ralph's marriage to Isabel Haute brought the Woodville court into the family's blood.
