Richard de Bunbury was joint lord of Bunbury and is recorded in the inquisitions post mortem, the Crown's own surveys of land held at a tenant's death, which is the firmest kind of medieval evidence there is.

✓ DOCUMENTED (Ormerod, Hist. of Chester II pp.393-96, from the Inquisitions post mortem, conf. Dugdale 1663; read 23 Jul 2026): RICHARD DE BUNBURY, joint lord of Bunbury and lord of Stanney, died seized of the manors of Bunbury, Stanney and Occleston; INQ. P.M. 37 HEN. VI (1459); his son and heir John was aged 40 (so John b. c.1419). Likely the 'Richard de Bunbury, Esq.' man-at-arms in Henry V's 1415 army reported SICK and so missing AGINCOURT. m. ALICE, dau. of EDWARD DE DUTTON (of Dutton, co. Chester; note-only). Father of John the juror (our line). Ormerod places him grandson of William de Bunbury (grantee 1379) - the line above now rewired to Ormerod's authoritative version (my earlier Turtle-Bunbury wiring above him was CORRECTED 23 Jul 2026).
