Sir Warham St Leger, the younger of the two knights of that name, died of the wounds Hugh Maguire gave him outside Cork in the winter of 1600, each man killing the other at the head of his troop.

CORRECTED IDENTITY, 8 Aug 2026: this is the YOUNGER Sir Warham - son of William St Leger of Bilsington and Belgar, Kent, by Isabel Keys - NOT the elder Sir Warham (1525?-1597) who married Ursula Neville. Joint commissioner for Munster with Henry Power, Sept 1599; mortally wounded in the mutual killing with Hugh Maguire near Cork, d. 4-5 Mar 1599/1600 (Lodge footnote: 4 March, Decree in Chancery 8 Feb 1605; Carew MSS 1 Mar OS). M. (mid-1580s, her third marriage) Elizabeth Rothe of Kilkenny. Father of Sir William St Leger, Lord President of Munster (collateral, note-only) and of Dorothy Kingsmill (our line). TRAP - NEVER RE-IMPORT: Lodge VI pp.110-11, Burke's, and the Guinness 'Royal and Noble Families' pedigrees merge him with his UNCLE the elder Sir Warham and so hang Ursula Neville (dau. of George Nevill Ld Abergavenny by Mary Stafford, dau. of Edward Stafford Duke of Buckingham - an Edward III descent) on this line. BROKEN: the Neville/Stafford blood belongs only to the uncle's children (Sir Anthony of Ulcombe d.1603, Anne Digges). Abbott wrecked the claim in 1896 on chronology and the Office of Arms pedigree; DIB (Clavin 2009, a8224/a8225) codifies the two-Warham split.
