Walter Bagot

DOCUMENTED (History of Parliament, 'BAGOT, Walter (1557-1622), of Blithfield'): b. 26 Oct 1557, eldest son of Richard Bagot of Blithfield by Mary, dau. of William Saunders of Welford, Northants; Merton College Oxford 1577; J.P. Staffs 1597; Sheriff 1599-1600 and 1603-4; inherited Blithfield, three further manors and 4,000+ acres, 1597; m. 1584 Elizabeth, dau. of Roger Cave of Stanford; five sons (incl. Sir Hervey Bagot, 1st Bt) and four daus. (incl. ANNE, m. Thomas Lane of Bentley - our line, on the ~ Lane join). The famous Bagot correspondence (Folger Shakespeare Library) is this Walter's. NB the whole Bagot/Cave/Cecil group inherits the PROBABLE grade of the William Lane join below it. Updated July 2026.
