William Coningsby of the Inner Temple and Lynn, styled 'of Aldenham' (by 1483 - Sept 1540), Justice of the King's Bench in the last weeks of his life; Recorder of Lynn for sixteen years; imprisoned in the Tower in 1540 over the Shelton will affair and rehabilitated as Cromwell fell. Father of Jane Coningsby, wife of George Raleigh.

✓ DOCUMENTED (History of Parliament 1509-1558, 'CONINGSBY, William', read 9 Aug 2026): 2nd son of Sir Humphrey Coningsby of Aldenham by Alice Ferriby; m. by 1516 Beatrice, da. of Thomas Thoresby of Lynn, widow of William Trew - '1s. 4da.' HoP notes 'no evidence that he received the knighthood awarded him in some pedigrees' - the Visitation of Warwickshire's 'Kt.' is exactly such a pedigree; kept as plain William here.
