About
Eleanor of England was a daughter of Henry the Second and Eleanor of Aquitaine, sent south as a girl to marry Alfonso the Eighth of Castile. She became one of the great dynastic mothers of Europe: her daughters were queens of Castile, Leon, Aragon and Portugal, and one of them, Blanche, was the mother of Saint Louis of France. Through her this family reaches Henry the Second and Eleanor of Aquitaine a second time, by an entirely Spanish road.
