About

Hugh de Vere, fourth Earl of Oxford, married Hawise de Quincy, a daughter of the Earl of Winchester. Since his own father was one of the twenty-five sureties of Magna Carta and so was her father, their marriage brought two of the twenty-five together in a single generation of this line.
