Research notes

MAUD MARSHAL (1192-1248), daughter of William Marshal 1st Earl of Pembroke (I99569, already in the tree) and Isabel de Clare; wife of Hugh Bigod; mother of Isabel (our line). This rung LOOPS the line onto the existing Marshals. Standard well-documented medieval genealogy per the cited authorities; contested rungs note-only, not hardened. ||SECOND ANCESTRAL MARRIAGE WIRED 24 Aug 2026 (CP1 SURREY p.327)|| Maud married (1) Hugh Bigod, Earl of Norfolk (F99896, our Bigod road) and (2) before 13 Oct 1225 William de Warenne, 5TH EARL OF SURREY (F100220) - and our line runs by BOTH beds: Isabel Bigod on one side, John de Warenne 6th Earl on the other. The eldest Marshal coheir, she surrendered the office of Marshal of England to her son Roger in 1248-49.
