About

Philip I (1052-1108), King of France for forty-eight years; one of the longest reigns of the Capetian house; was crowned as a child of seven and ruled through the age of the Norman Conquest and the First Crusade. His repudiation of Bertha of Holland for Bertrade de Montfort brought him excommunication, and he left the crusading to his brother while quietly enlarging the tiny royal domain around Paris and Orléans. He is our ancestor through his son Louis VI.

Research notes

PHILIP I, King of FRANCE (1052-1108), son of Henry I of France (I99764, already in the tree); father of Louis VI (our line). This rung LOOPS the Ponthieu line onto the existing Capetian kings. Standard documented medieval genealogy per the cited authorities; contested/legendary rungs note-only, not hardened.
