About
Sancho the Third, the Great, made Pamplona the master-power of Christian Spain, styled himself rex Hispaniarum, and at his death in 1035 divided everything: Navarre, Castile and Aragon went to his sons, and the map of Spain for the next four centuries was drawn by his will. This family descends from him twice - by the crowned line through Ferdinand, and by the honestly-flagged illegitimate rung through Ramiro of Aragon.
