✓ SIR JOHN KINGSMILL, of SYDMONTON COURT, Hants, 'WHICH HE ACQUIRED BY PURCHASE FROM THE CROWN 31 and 35 HENRY VIII' ⚠ BUT THE VISITATION DISAGREES ABOUT BOTH HIS SEAT AND HIS OFFICE: it styles him 'Sr John Kingsmill OF FREIBOCK in Com. .... knt JUSTICE OF THE COMMON PLEAS [?]' - still of Freifolk like his father, and himself a judge, with the Harleian editor's own query mark against the office. Burke's makes only the FATHER a judge and gives Sydmonton to the son; the visitation places Sydmonton a generation later still, at 'Sr Willm Kingsmill OF SIDMANTON'. Either the heralds conflated father and son, or Burke's did. NOT RESOLVED; neither reading hardened. CONSTANCE, dau. of JOHN GORING of BARTON, Sussex; d. 20 JUL 1556 per the Burke's page image, ⚠ BUT STIRNET GIVES 20.07.1566 - a ten-year conflict on his death, unresolved and NOT hardened; the 1556 reading is retained as entered because it is what the page prints. She d. 16 May 1581, on which both agree.
