Tipperary - m. 1755 John Lane jnr of Lanespark/Ballynonty (Cashel & Emly marriage licence bond, 'John Lane and Elizabeth Lowe, 1755', index image read 13 Jul 2026); widow by 23 Jan 1758, when the Prerogative admon of her husband's estate ('Lane, John, Roesgreen, Co. Tipperary, Gent') was granted to 'Eliz'th L., the Wid.' Her family: HAMILTON LOWE of Roesgreen, esq. (Prerogative will pr. 1770, 'Large will' - Vicars), amid the Tipperary Lowes of Fethard/Brookhill/Knockally. Almost certainly the mother of John Hamilton Lane (b. c.1755-6) - the Hamilton forename entering the Lanes through her family. Grade ~ (bond + admon + name-convergence lattice; awaiting Betham's abstract of Hamilton Lowe's 1770 will for the explicit link). PARENTAGE NOW DEED-DOCUMENTED (14 Jul 2026): 'Elizabeth Lowe of Roesgreen, ELDEST DAU of Hamilton Lowe of Roesgreen Esq, spinster' - her own marriage settlement, 4 Mar 1755, ROD 174/336/116452 (GBP3,500 portion). REMARRIAGE DEED-DOCUMENTED (14 Jul 2026): family settlement of her late father's estate, 27 Aug 1771 (reg. 13 Jun 1793), ROD 471/286/299081 - 'Elizabeth (nee Lowe), wife of Christopher HEWETSON Esq, dau of A [Hamilton Lowe of Lowesgreen/Roesgreen, dec'd]', among ALL FIVE daughters and co-successors: Ann (widow of David Lowe of Rocklowe, m. 17 Jan 1770), Jane (m. Richard Butler, who took the name BUTLER LOWE), Mary (m. William Lockwood - whence 'Hamilton Lowe Lockwood of Castle Lake'; prev. widow Willington), Elizabeth (Hewetson, prev. widow LANE - indexer cross-ref to 116452; forced identification, Hamilton had one Elizabeth), Frances (m. John Bagwell of Kilmore). Trustees William Barton of Fethard and RICHARD PENNEFATHER of Nenagh. NO SON - Hamilton Lowe d. before Aug 1771 leaving five daughters; JHL and the Lockwood boys carried his name as a forename. So: m.1 1755 John Lane jnr (d. 1758); m.2 by 1771 (prob. c.1758-63) Christopher Hewetson of Kilkenny - the man who witnessed her first settlement. Her son JHL was raised at Lanespark. Grade: paternity and both marriages now deed-documented. HER PRESUMPTIVE MOTHER (13 Jul 2026, Burke's LGI 1912, PENNEFATHER of Rathsallagh article): HAMILTON LOWE of Roe's Green m. MARY PENNEFATHER, eldest dau. of Kingsmill Pennefather of New Park (Col. of Militia, M.P. for Cashel then Tipperary, High Sheriff 1703 and 1708) by his cousin, only dau. and heir of John Pennefather of Compsey. IF Elizabeth is their daughter (tree-grade until Betham's abstract of the 1770 will confirms; an Ancestry tree gives her b. 1732 Tipperary, father Hamilton Lowe, mother 'Elizabeth Pennefather' - forename almost certainly a garble of Burke's Mary - and a spouse Christopher Hewetson, possibly her REMARRIAGE as widow Lane after 1758), then: (a) JHL's great-grandfather = Kingsmill Pennefather of New Park; (b) the Lane line and the Huleatt/Pennefather-of-Marlow line CONVERGE on Matthew Pennefather x Levina Kingsmill - William of Marlow (1708-72) was Kingsmill of New Park's brother - a double Pennefather descent. NB a second, younger HAMILTON LOWE 'of Brookhill' m. Elizabeth Carden, dau. of Minchin Carden of Fishmoyne (LGI 1912, Carden of Fishmoyne) - the forename recurred; do not conflate the two. Hamilton Lowe of Roesgreen Esq paid GBP3,500 on the marriage of Elizabeth Lowe, 'eldest dau of A, spinster', to 'John Lane of Lanespark, Jnr., son of D [John Lane of Lanespark, Esq]'; C and D settled on trustee Thomas Lane of Fethard: 1,000 acres Lanespark + 1,000 acres bog + 200 acres Rathjordan (the Gabbett lands - the Jan 1754 recovery, ROD 111715, prepared exactly this). Other parties/witnesses: William Lane of Dublin, Attorney (= Cavenagh's 'William of the city of Dublin, a lawyer'); Joseph Bunbury and Joseph Robbins, barristers; RICHARD PENNEFATHER of Newpark Esq (bride's maternal kin per Burke's - Mary Pennefather's family); Robert Bradshaw of Cullen; and CHRISTOPHER HEWETSON of Kilkenny City Esq - the man Elizabeth appears to have married as her 2nd husband after 1758. Cashel & Emly licence bond same year. Their son JOHN HAMILTON LANE (b. c.1755-6) is attached to this family as of 14 Jul 2026 (moved from F99008 with Aynsley's approval - six independent supports vs the 1898 letter's one; see I99010 note).
