Research notes
Documented line. Brady, Clerical & Parochial Records (1863): Edward Jones of Drombeg m. a Honner (the Honners of Crohane, I81046); father of Henry Jones of Drombeg (I81043); son of the founder Henry Jones (I81047, 'a major in Cromwell's army who settled in Bandon' per Cole 1903). Est. b. ABT 1645 (chronology agreed 12 Oct 2026). RECORDS: the Encumbered Estates Court rental of 2 Apr 1852 recites the family's title as an agreement of 7 May 1707 and a lease of 27 Oct 1708 from the Governor and Company for Making Hollow Sword Blades to EDWARD JONES, lives renewable for ever, rent 11l 5s 3d (transcribed in the Jones ledger). The Registry of Deeds memorial 1843 (1709) names the sitting lessee as Henry - his son. DROMBEG: house c.1660 by its fabric (NIAH reg. 20914302, range 1640-80). In 1659 Drombeg was held by Richard Cambridge (Pender). The pre-forfeiture ownership is recited two ways: memorial 1843 ('late part of the estates of the late King James II before his accession'); the Books of Survey & Distribution mark the parish's Coppinger parcels as Williamite forfeitures annotated 'Hollow Blades' - allocation of Drombeg between them open.
