Sir John de Grey of Rotherfield, Oxon, and Sculcotes, co. York (d.1313), who received a summons of 26 Jan 1296/7 (not a regular writ, but enough for a herald to style him 'Lord'); father of Joane, wife of Sir John Raleigh, and of the 1st Baron Grey de Rotherfield.

✓ DOCUMENTED per Cokayne, Complete Peerage 1st edn, GREY DE ROTHERFIELD pp.103-04 (page images supplied by Aynsley 24 Aug 2026), entry I and note (b): m. Margaret de Odingsells; their son John (b. c.1300) was summoned as LORD GREY DE ROTHERFIELD from 1338 and was a FOUNDER KNIGHT OF THE GARTER, 23 April 1344 (collateral - our line is through the daughter). The Greys of Rotherfield above him left a floor. Added 24 Aug 2026.
