Research notes
✓ ES: dau. of RENAUD Count of Nevers (OPEN above); mother of Renaud de Courtenay (our line). Added 14 Sep 2026. || PARENTS WIRED 14 Sep 2026 - CAPETIAN RING: father RENAUD I COUNT OF NEVERS, mother ADVISA (Hedwig) OF FRANCE, daughter of ROBERT II THE PIOUS by Constance of Arles (existing F99663) - so the Courtenay lords descend from the second Capetian king a century before Elizabeth de Courtenay married his descendant Peter of France. The line meets itself, as good lines do (ES standard). || *** CORRECTED 19 Oct 2026 (agreed with Aynsley): Miles de Courtenay's wife was ELISABETH, not Ermengarde, and she was the daughter of RENAUD [II] de Nevers (killed 1089), son of Guillaume [I], by his first wife (Ita Raymonde) of Forez - not the daughter of Renaud [I] and Advisa, who are her great-grandparents. The Origo brevis Nivernensium comitum records that Renaud [II]'s daughter by his first wife married 'Miloni de Curteniaco'; charters of [1110/16] and [1120/39] name 'Elisabeth uxor Milonis' and 'Milo de Curtiniaco et uxor eius Elisabeth et filii eorum Willelmus, Joscelinus, Rainaldus'. The Capetian descent via Advisa stands, two generations further up.
