Ermengarde of Burgundy was a kinswoman of the Anscarid counts of Burgundy, the Italian-descended house of Ivrea that came to rule the Free County. As wife of Rotbold II of Provence she was mother of Emma, who carried Provence's claim onward. She is one of the quiet tenth-century mothers through whom two great comital houses; Ivrea and Provence; meet in our line.
