Isabel de Mortimer, daughter of the Wigmore lord who broke Simon de Montfort, by Maud de Braose of the Marcher house King John had destroyed, married John FitzAlan and was mother of Richard, Earl of Arundel. In her the March's two bloodiest inheritances - Mortimer iron and Braose grief - flowed together into the FitzAlan earls.
