✓ Alice (Adelise, Adeliza) de Tosny, sister and coheir of William de Tosny, lord of Belvoir, and daughter of Robert de Tosny, lord of Belvoir; wife of Roger Bigod (d.1107); living 1136. The 1130 Pipe Roll records 'Adeliz uxor Rogi Bigot' for her father's land 'de Belueder'. Mother of Cecily (wife of William d'Aubigny Brito, who inherited Belvoir from her) and - per CP IX ('Hugh... br. and h., presumably of the half-blood') - of Hugh, 1st Earl of Norfolk, and Maud (wife of William d'Aubigny Pincerna). CP IX gives Roger a 1st wife Adelaide, parentage unknown, mother of the eldest son William only; Keats-Rohan (Domesday People p.396) thinks the two wives were one woman. Either way Hugh and Maud descend from the Tosny wife. She REPLACES 'Adeliza de Grentmesnil' (I100256), entered from CP 1st ed.: CP IX (2nd ed.) does not give that marriage.
