About

Ermengarde of Anjou (c.952-992), Duchess of Brittany, was a daughter of Geoffrey Greymantle, Count of Anjou. As wife of Conan I she stood at the founding of the Breton ducal house that her descendants would hold for centuries; her daughter Judith married Richard II of Normandy, so that Angevin, Breton and Norman blood met in her grandchildren; among them, in time, William the Conqueror's duchess-grandmother's line and our own.
