About

Judith of Brittany (982-1017), Duchess of Normandy, was the daughter of Conan I of Brittany and the wife of Duke Richard II. The great abbey of Bernay was founded on her dower lands at her own initiative; she laid out her fortune on it; and after her early death she was buried there. Grandmother of William the Conqueror, she stands where the Breton and Norman ducal houses meet in our line.
