About
John FitzGeoffrey, the great justiciar's son by Aveline de Clare, was himself Justiciar of Ireland and lord of Shere and Kirtling; his refusal to be bullied over a Sussex advowson in 1258 became one of the sparks of the baronial reform movement, though he died that same year before the storm broke. He married Isabel Bigod, of the charter-blood on both sides, and their daughter Joan carries this line.
