About
Fulk I 'the Red' (c.870-942) was the founder of the house of Anjou: a Loire-valley viscount who fought the Bretons and the Norsemen and made himself the first Count of Anjou. From his hilltop county came, in time, the Plantagenet kings of England; and eight centuries of descent to this family.
Research notes
FULK I 'the RED', Count of ANJOU (c.870-942); father of Fulk II (our line). DOCUMENTED FLOOR of the Angevin counts; Ingelger above is semi-legendary and left unwired. Standard well-documented medieval genealogy per the cited authorities; contested rungs note-only, not hardened.
